Google Released A New Security Policy for its Add Ons!
More than 50 percent Internet Users are using Google’s Chrome Browser. Like Mozilla Firefox and other browsers, Chrome also offers a number of Add Ons to its users. These Add Ons have been developed by Google and many other third party developers. To improve the security of user’s information and privacy, a new Security Policy has been released by Google. Security of every user’s information and data is the responsibility of Google. Hackers are playing with the privacy of users these days, therefore to protect users from these cyber criminals an advanced security plan has been designed by the security experts of Google.
Which Changes Has Been Made By Google?
- According to Google, Transparency between User and Developer is a must. Therefore the extensions developed by third party developers, will be accepted by Google if developers will show how they are going to handle data which they will collect from users. They also have to explain, which type of data they will collect from users and with whom they will share that data.
- Developers do not have rights to collect information from users without their consent. Developers have to set term and conditions as per new security policy of Google.
- If developers of Google Extensions will collect sensitive information of users such as credit card and debit card details, User-id, passwords, address and Social Security Numbers then they have to make a privacy policy for users. All the terms and conditions should be available in that privacy policy as per law and security policy of Google.
- If developers will collect user’s sensitive information, then transmission of data should be in encrypted form.
- If developers are collecting that information from users, which is not related to their service then they have to define where they will use it. User’s consent is a must in this case. All this declaration should be available in privacy policy. Everything should be according to the Security Policy of Google.
- Tracing Cookies and keeping eye on the web activities of user are prohibited according to new security policy of Google.
- Internet Giant will immediately inform to developers, if they will violate its new security policy.
When Google will officially Release its New Security Policy?
Google is going to release its new Security Policy on 14th July, 2016. Developers has also got notices from Google and they have to make changes in their security policies and privacy policies according to new security policy of Google. Till the above mentioned date, all the extensions should be compliance as per security policy of Google, either it could be removed by Google from its web application store. After fulfilling the conditions of new security policy of Google, developers could apply for their removed extensions again.
