German researchers said,” They came to know about a fact that every single minute has release 12 new types of malwares, in first half of this year.” It means in the first half of 2015 there were 3,045,722 new strains of malwares identified by the researchers. As compare to the last six months of the 2014 it was slow, but 64.8 percent higher than the first six months of 2014.

G Data (An antimalware company of Germany) said in a report,” There are 22,393,095 total number of malware strains since 2006.”

If we talk about the “evil” websites available on internet, 43 percent of it is located on the servers of United States. China is on number two by having 9.5 percent of it. France owned 8.2 percent of this therefore it is on number three.

Banking Trojans Rising

In the first half of 2015 health care websites contained more malware than any other websites. In G Data’s top 10 list the personal advertising and dating category is new. This type of websites offer to install paid premium services and launch expensive phone calls.  According to a report, in 2015 number of malware attacks, carried out by banking Trojans are expected to rise for the first time since 2012. In the wake of successful e-mail campaigns, the Swatbanker family caused a number of attacks that reached an all-time high in March 2015. Its main target was bank customers from Austria, Poland and Germany. G Data said, “This wave was so successful in March 2015, the highest number of repelled banking Trojan attacks since records began was measured whereas Previously, waves of attacks by e-mail had not been unusual for this Trojan.

What’s More Concerning?

Tim Erlin is the Director of IT security in Tripware. According to his report, the increase in banking Trojans is more concerning than the specific number of malware strains discovered till the day.

Erlin said “There is a big difference between an unwanted or harmless application and one specially designed malware.” These specially designed malware can steal money from the bank accounts. He also said that the increase in malware strains is an indicator of the growing cybercrime. Erlin states that to increase the profit, doing investment in tools is a great method for companies, which is often malware.

In the end of his statement he said that, “Relying only on antivirus and a network-based tool to detect malware is not enough these days. There is a need of more advanced technology to detect malwares and all the malicious codes in organizations.
