Now a day the internet is getting increasingly popular for the people to use. On other hand it is getting increasingly popular for crime also. We daily saw a lot of cyber crime news on the internet. So users have to aware about its security too. A little mistake by user can harm his identity, credentials, bank details and much more.

A lot of things internet users do wrong, which are easy to fix in least time. There is a list of top ten internet security mistakes that users should try to fix as soon as possible:

1. We know better than you

User needs to know that certain security measures are necessary for the security of their systems, but not all users agree with this. This little ignorance leads them to a big security risk. Antivirus software is an example. Users think it slows down their machine but they don’t know how secure their browsing is. A lot of Trojans, viruses, Adwares, spywares and worms are present on internet. Their little mistake can download these types of malicious files which are the reasons behind system crash and cyber crimes.

2Using Questionable Websites

We often notice on the internet, some pop-ups or websites offered something that looks very good to be true. Users need to know that how much that website is secure. He or she do not need to give their information about anything they are not 100 percent comfortable with.

3.Use of networks without protection in public

Sometimes libraries, cafes and airports might be incredibly convenient for users and help users stay in contact with people better by saving users data plan, they can be incredibly dangerous to users online security and anyone with the right equipment (which isn’t expensive or hard to use) can take a look at what you are uploading or downloading (this includes financial data) if you are not prepared.

4. Password

When you are choosing your passwords, what do you normally do? Do you optimize your passwords to the best security you can manage, or do you just type in “password” all of the time and let it be? You should never pick a simple password, anyone wanting to get at your data will probably try out this list of commonly used passwords before resorting to anything more time-consuming. Even if you use the same password everywhere (which you shouldn’t), you need a strong password to protect your data. Change it now if you need to.

Whenever user downloads any software or anything, he or she need to confirm about it what they are actually getting. If user is giving permission to any file for downloading and execute then he needs to know about it that file will directly interact with the hardware of the system. If it is a malware then it can harm user’s PC. There is a tip for users, they needs to download file from the officials sites. If they have problem with budget then they can use trail versions of software. Reason behind it is mostly freeware is spyware.

7.  Not Checking and Clearing Cookies

Cookies are small bits of information that are usually saved in browser. These are the data of that websites which user often visit on his system. Sometimes these are good because it saves user’s time and boost up systems speed due to early connection with the servers. But sometimes cookies should be malicious and they can trace user’s activities on the system. This could be the reason of data theft of user in future.

8. Neglecting to Update Your Computer

Sometimes window forces the system to restart itself. Mostly users think that it is annoying for them. But they need to know that there is always a reason behind it. If window is demanding for any update then it is user’s responsibility to provide that update to window. There are several applications which users use on their computer. By the time these applications got holes in their security systems by the hackers. For their safe use they need to be fixed these types of flaws. All this process has been done by the companies and they launch the update version of the software or applications. Users need to update all of that.
