After the success of the Gmail IMAP and POP, Google launched a new Gmail API for the app developers. The new GMAIL API launched would give an easy access to data for those who want to build GMAIL integrated apps. The question is that how this new GMAIL API launched would change the experience of using GMAIL.
What is GMAIL IMAP and POP?
Before the new
GMAIL API launched, it was IMAP and POP by Google which provided a better way of using GMAIL.
IMAP and POP allows you to download messages from the Gmail server on your PC. Just like the other mail services like outlook, thunderbird, IMAP downloads and stores your emails on your pc. Comparing the two IMAP and POP,
IMAP is a better option because of its two way communication.

What's new in the new GMAIL API Launched?
The new api would use the HTTPS calls and will
download the mails in the form of XML, JSON or Google Protbout format. You can use languages like Python and java and can open them in your browser. Unlike the old IMAP the new Gmail API would focus more on the change in inbox and history rather than downloading the complete mail box again and again.

auto response was there as soon as the mail was received. The new Gmail api has new settings and would allow only specific users to send the auto response email.
