Russian hackers stole 1.2 million passwords[/caption] Two days ago a security firm known as Hold security posted a news regarding world's biggest data breach. Hold security announced to New York Times that Russian hackers have hacked more than 1.2 billion passwords. But is this a real story or the security firm has used it for their own publicity?
Russian hackers stole 1.2 billion passwords
Earlier this week Alex Holden Director of Hold Security told The New York Times that they had discovered that Russian hackers have stolen 4 billion passwords. On re checking the list the number reduced to 1.2 billion, further the list sculpted to 500 million. The data was stolen from 520,000 websites. Hold didn't disclose any victim's name. Instead of disclosing they were making clients by charging 120$ for a security check up. The question arises that is this story of Russian hackers a real one or just created for publicity.
Looking close to biggest data breach story
- Hold security announces that more than 4 billion passwords were stolen from 520,000 websites. Few hours later the number reduced to 1.2 billion and 420,000.
- Hold didn't give any indication regarding how he actually got obtained the list of 420,000 websites.
- No law enforcement agency is investigating over the incident.
- Hold enlightened that they know the name and location of these Russian hackers but not the name of the group.
All these clues have created a doubt that there is something that Holden is trying to hide. To check more about Hold Security firm Rick Romell and Bill Glauber made further investigation. Both completely nailed out Russian hackers story of 1.2 billion passwords and also about Hold Security firm. [caption id="attachment_921" align="aligncenter" width="200"]

Hold Security Firm: Fake or real?
Alex Holden is the director of the Hold Security firm. During an interview he answered that he graduated from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, BS. He graduated in mechanical engineering and was passed out in 2001. But there was no such record present in UWM. If you carefully monitor Hold Security blog, you would find that Hold Security is doing nothing but Web monitoring. Hold security offers you a consumer protection service. In this if you install any application; they will perform deep monitoring of it over the Russian forums using TOR. They are making your passwords encrypted and secretly storing them. When the number of encrypted passwords increases then they make public news of data breach. In this way they make their clients and publicize them.
