The Social Network Giant, Facebook was recently in news for tracking even the non-users of its service. In other words, if you don't even have a Facebook Account, still you are being tracked by Facebook Inc. This is scary! At least for those who chose to be anonymous, and don't register for Facebook.

In a recent report, Facebook researchers have claimed to find a "bug" that simply allowed them to track people who haven't ever visited the website.

The disclosure was made public by Richard Allen, the European policy vice prez of Facebook in a report on Wednesday. He explained that the bug helped them place cookies on the browsers of visitors of a website using Social plugin but not even having Account on Facebook.

Our practice is not to place cookies on the browsers of people who have visited sites with Social Plugins but who have never visited Facebook.com to sign up for an account.

The authors identified a few instances when cookies may have been placed, and we began to address those inadvertent cases as soon as they were brought to our attention.

Facebook told, they are working on the fix and it will be rolled out very soon.

Apart from that it is clear that a Facebooker (person having a Facebook account) is being tracked using cookies whenever he/she visits a site whosoever is using a Social plugin.

This claim dragging the Facebook in news, was made by a Belgian report. The regulators analyzed Facebook's terms and policies and found the constantly occurring tracking.

"It is important to note that tracking of non-users initiates even if one does not visit the Facebook homepage. In principle, any page belonging to the facebook.com domain will result in the placement of a long-term, identifying cookie (e.g., an event page, a shop page, fan page ...)", said the Belgian report.
