Russian hacking group W0rm hacked CNET user database. The group stole usernames, encrypted passwords and email addresses of over a million of users.

CNET user database hacked

W0rm gained access to the CNET server because of the security loop hole in Symfony PHP framework. 2 days earlier, w0rm said tweeted that it is offering the database for an amount of $622. Today they confirmed that it was just for publicity. The real motive was to create awareness about the security issues related to high class websites.

W0rm is a Russian hacker group which is acknowledged by some of the top ranking companies for finding vulnerabilities in their websites. Before hacking CNET user database, W0rm claimed that it hacked BBC in late 2013. Not only this, but also websites of Adobe Systems and Bank of America is successfully hacked by the Russian group.
