Due to a controversial video, Youtube was banned in Pakistan from 2012. This video was uploaded by someone under the title “Innocence of Muslims”. For mocking the Prophet Muhammad, this video created a big controversy in a number of countries. Now Pakistan has lifted the ban from Youtube because Google offered him a local version of Youtube under domain “.pk”. To block that particular link of video was not technically feasible for them, so they block the whole domain, authorities of Pakistan said to a court.

Company had done a deal with Pakistan therefore Google have announced a new seperate version of Youtube for Pakistan, which will work in Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. PTA (Pakistan Telecommunications Authority) did not told anything about this new seperate version of Youtube. Even Google is not telling anything about it.

Google is providing an online functionality to PTA, using which PTA is able to block those IP Addresses from where users are uploading offending material. PTA will report to Google about this offending material and Google will block that videos for lifetime. A n ISP (Internet Service Provider) company of Pakistan, wrote a welcome note for Youtube on its facebook page.

A Civil Society organisation of Pakistan named “Bolo Bhi” is working for internet freedom and Privacy. Bolo Bhi is demanding a detail report of this deal from PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authorities).
