DDoS Attack on BBC Website!

This Thursday morning, the websites of BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation’s) were not working. There was a possibility of massive DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attack which was creating disturbance on server and sites were under maintenance with the purpose of fixing this problem.

On Thursday morning BBC gave a statement on Twitter by a tweet,”We’re aware of a technical issue affecting the BBC website and are working to fix this now. We’ll update you as soon as we can”

Till the afternoon, the website of BBC was shut down. But after that BBC gave another statement on twitter by saying website was working normally, some of the pages of website were taking more time to reload as compare to the time which they normally took. BBC apologized too for this incident.

“The servers of websites were not giving response to the legitimate traffic because attackers were flooding the servers by sending messages from multiple machines.”, said by BBC press office.

According to a report of BBC, the DDoS attack on website is not confirmed yet because the technicians had fixed all the problems very quickly. Therefore this DDoS attack caused a “Patchy Response. ”iPlayer Radio app, iPlayer video and other on demand services of BBC had been affected with this attack. If we talk about iPlayer app, due to technical issues it was down for an entire week in July 2014.
